An new reward for information leading to the whereabouts of a Marion County mother who seemingly vanished more than two years ago has been offered by her family 30th birthday.
Kara Rigdon, then a 27-year-old mother of two, disappeared in July of 2010. She was last seen in the area of Beechfork Loop Road in Marion County. Her car was later found abandoned along the Bluegrass Parkway.

“It’s like you’ve got a missing piece to your puzzle. A missing piece to your heart that’s not there,” said Sheila Tingle, the missing woman’s mother. “She loved her children very much and she would never have left them willingly.”
Tingle said the new reward is $10,500. A previous reward of $11,000 expired in December and the money was returned to donors.
In October, the father of Kara’s child, William Rigdon was charged with the murder of Wendell “Gleason” Pyles. Pyles was shot and killed in late September while on the job as a maintenance worker at Tarter Gate Company in Casey County. Police never named Rigdon a suspect in his wife’s mysterious disappearance, but those close to the investigation have said they believe Rigdon knew more than he let on.
