A West Bridgewater man was arrested last week on charges that include identity theft – and police say he was already out on bail for similar offenses and the alleged victim is a fraud investigator.
After a lengthy investigation by Easton Detective Sgt. Michael Fox and Detective Darren Mangott, a search warrant was executed at 23 Hilltop Lane in South Easton and numerous stolen electronics, including laptop computers and tablets, were recovered, Police Chief Allen Krajcik said Friday.

An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for Nicholas Laghetto, 26 of 216 Spring St., West Bridgewater, who is being charged with identity fraud, credit card fraud and larceny. Police said Laghetto had been staying with relatives at the Hilltop Street address. He was arrested a few days after the search by West Bridgewater police and is being held pending a bail hearing, Krajcik said. The exact date of the arrest was not available Friday afternoon.
Easton police had received information that someone from the Hilltop Street address had been using a computer to make fraudulent purchases and to apply for credit cards using stolen identities. The victim who reported this to police is a fraud investigator who had previously investigated a case involving Laghetto, Krajcik said. Laghetto had previously been arrested by West Bridgewater police for similar offenses and was out on bail.
The U.S. Secret Service also assisted in the investigation.
