A former office manager for a Virginia Beach psychology center has been arrested and charged with defrauding the practice out of more than $300,000.
Catherine Williams, formerly known as Catherine Rittenhouse, 53, made an initial appearance Friday afternoon in U.S. District Court after her arrest in Georgia earlier this month. She now lives in Ludowici, Ga., near Savannah.

She faces five counts: conspiracy, health care fraud, aggravated identity theft, embezzlement and forgery. She pleaded not guilty to the charges, and a judge set a May 7 trial date.
An associate of Williams, Michael Inman Sr., faces the same charges. He also was recently arrested in Georgia and is awaiting transfer here.
From 2008 to February, Williams worked at Spectrum Psychological Services, making $10 an hour as an office manager, according to an indictment filed Feb. 21.
The indictment alleges that Williams stole health insurance checks meant for the practice and then gave them to Inman. It alleges that Inman then forged the checks, deposited them into a bank account and split the proceeds with Williams.
The indictment says 596 checks were stolen and that the practice lost $308,000.
Williams remains free on a $25,000 bond.
