Identity Theft Fayetteville, NC Pharmacist Charged

A 73-year-old Fayetteville pharmacist was charged today with identification theft after he allegedly assumed the identity of a military doctor, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said.

John Richard White, of the 2500 block of Woodwind Drive, was charged with 25 counts of identification theft, 19 counts of obtaining a prescription drug by fraud and six counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, Debbie Tanna, sheriff spokeswoman said Monday.

White was working at Food Lion in Stedman when he allegedly assumed the Drug Enforcement Administration identity of a military doctor and a civilian OB-GYN, Tanna said.

Between 2011 and 2012, White ordered prescriptions of the testosterone enhanncement drug Androgel and thyroid and estrogen medications for his wife, investigators claim.

He was processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center and released on an unsecured $125,000 bail. White is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
