A woman was shot Friday and now her ex-husband is behind bars.
The shooting happened on Rabbit Run Road in Meade County, near Fort Knox.
Kentucky State Police say Jackie Cook shot his estranged wife, Magdelena Cook, at her home.
Police say Magdelena ran next door to her neighbor’s house for help. The neighbor says she’s thankful she was there.

“He kept shooting at her, She made it to my door and I got her in the door, got her lay down on the ground. Then he came over here trying to get back to her. I told him I wasn’t letting him in the house with a gun because my kids were in there,” remembers the neighbor, who did not want to be identified.
The neighbor also says Magdelena was shot in the legs and was alert when emergency crews took her to the hospital.
Jackie Cook surrendered to police after a brief stand off and was then arrested.
