Insurance Fraud Former St. Louis County Agent Pleaded Guilty

A former St. Louis County insurance agent has pleaded guilty to 20 counts of fraud and theft charges, the Missouri Department of Insurance.

After an investigation by the St. Louis County Police Department with the support of the insurance department, Wendi Ann Glass pleaded guilty to five counts of stealing, six counts of forgery, eight counts of commission of fraudulent insurance act and one count of attempted stealing, the department said.

St. Louis County Circuit Judge Michael T. Jamison sentenced Glass to three years on each count. The sentences will run concurrently.

After receiving consumer complaints against Glass, the department discovered in 2012 that she was selling homeowners and auto insurance policies without a license and not submitting the premiums she collect from consumers to an insurance company. The department revoked the license of Glass and her company, VMG Inc., in 2011.

Evidence from the department’s investigation was turned over to the St. Louis County Police Department, which launched its own investigation that led to the arrest of Glass on charges for forgery, theft and insurance fraud.

Consumers are encouraged to file complaints against agents or insurance companies they believe have violated Missouri law. Since the beginning of 2012, the department has revoked the licenses of 27 insurance agents
