Medford police believe they’ve found the body of Truman Tollefson, an 87-year-old man who has been missing since December.
Tollefson was last seen on the evening of Dec. 5, when family says he went to run some errands but never returned. He was driving his silver 1981 Buick Century 4-door sedan.
On Sunday morning, a Rogue River resident called police after he found the missing man’s vehicle with an apparent deceased person lying nearby.

Detectives from the Medford Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to mile marker 9 of Upper Grave Creek Road, a remote area outside of Rogue River.
Detectives say the vehicle does in fact belong to Tollefson.
Investigators believe the body is Tollefson, however, a positive identification has not yet been made at this time. The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office will be working on identifying the body later this week.
Police think the vehicle became stuck when it tried to turn around at a dead end portion of Upper Grave Creek. Then, detectives say the driver probably got out of the vehicle and died nearby. They say there is no evidence of foul play.
The witness who found the vehicle was in the area to cut firewood and had to remove a fallen tree which had blocked the road.
