Wrongful Death Lexington Man Gets Life Without Parole

A Mercer County man who shot himself in the head the day after allegedly stabbing and shooting another man to death and attacking his wife in 2010 pleaded guilty in the case Tuesday and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

James M. Kelley, 52, pleaded guilty to murder, robbery 1st, burglary 1st, assault 1st.

Kelley recovered enough from a self-inflicted gunshot to participate in his own defense.

Kelly shot himself in the head in December 2010. Police say the day before he attacked John “Bud” Dacci and killed him before turning on Dacci’s wife, Maryann, in their Herrington Lake home.

Maryann Dacci was shot but survived and called 911.
