Deputies say a body found near a vehicle in northern California belongs to a woman with dementia who’d been missing in Reno for weeks.
El Dorado County sheriff’s officials confirmed Tuesday that the body found near U.S. Highway 50 east of Strawberry belongs to Sherilyn Lee Renstrom.
Reno police say the 66-year-old woman was last seen leaving her home April 26.
El Dorado authorities were notified of her case on Friday. Deputies say more than 50 search and rescue volunteers searched the area where the car was found, and the body was found nearby.

Reno police categorized Renstrom as an endangered person because she had dementia and became disoriented easily.
