Police continue to investigate the beating death of a man in Lexington over the weekend.
Tommy Crawford, 45, was found dead in a field near the intersection of Newtown Road and Georgetown Road late Saturday night. He was severely beaten, and the coroner says he died of blunt force trauma.
Cindy Crawford said her brother had a drinking problem and sometimes got into fights, but even so, he didn’t deserve a violent death.

“He liked to sing. Be silly. Laugh a lot,” she said. “Nobody deserves to be hurt, or beat, or anything like that, because we’re all human, you know? And we just want this to be solved and for them to get the person who did it.”
Family members say they plan to hold a vigil for Tommy Crawford at Triangle Park Monday night.
