A federal judge has sentenced a man to six months in prison for food stamp fraud.
Stanley Jones was charged with lying on food stamp applications in 2008 by representing that nobody in his household had been convicted of a drug-related felony since 1996.
Anyone convicted of a drug related felony after August 22, 1996, is prohibited from receiving benefits under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as food stamps.

He pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Jackson in April.
U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves sentenced Jones to the prison term, three years on supervised release and ordered him to pay restitution of $8,282.
Court records say the case originated in Jackson.
