The Fayette County coroner’s office has released the identity of a man who was killed in a violent rollover crash early Tuesday morning.
The accident happened at about 1 a.m. on Old Richmond Road near the intersection of Jack’s Creek Pike. Firefighters found a man, identified as Martin Rankin, 41, of Richmond, trapped in his truck, and by the time they could get him any help, he had already died.

Police say the truck was heading south when it left the road and hit a downed tree limb. That sent it flipping sideways into a utility pole and then a tree. The impact sent the truck rolling into the roadway where it finally stopped.
First responders say Rankin, who was not wearing a seat belt, was the only person inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
