Missing Person Roy Rodgers of Los Angeles County

A statewide Silver Alert has been issued to help locate a missing 81-year-old man who may have ties to the High Desert, authorities said Thursday.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Detective Christine Carns said an 81-year-old man named Roy Rodgers was last seen on the 4000 block of South Ridge Avenue in Los Angeles at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Rodgers suffers from dementia and is possibly lost, according to Carns. Rodgers was driving a 1985 tan four door Cadillac De Ville, license plate number 1POF371.

According to a deputy from the Marina Del Ray sheriff’s station, the Cadillac is registered to Rodgers in Victorville, but it was unclear if Rodgers was living in Victorville at the time of his disappearance.

Rodgers’ concerned family is seeking the public’s assistance in finding him. Rodgers is described as a black male, 5-foot-9, 195 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair and no visible scars or tattoos. A clothing description was not available.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Don Spiker said the Silver Alert was issued at 10:48 a.m. Thursday. Silver Alerts are used to notify the public of missing persons who may suffer from Alzheimer’s, dementia or other mental disabilities.

According to Spiker, if a description match is made, the person or vehicle will be stopped to check on the welfare of the missing person.
