A Tucson woman was arrested last week for attempting to smuggle nearly 21 pounds of heroin and methamphetamine across the border at Nogales, officials said.
Cynthia Teresa Flores, 24, was driving a Nissan sedan when she was referred for a secondary inspection at the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry, said an unsigned news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

A drug-sniffing dog “alerted to the presence of drugs behind the dashboard” and “officers removed three packages of heroin weighing nearly four pounds and worth more than $52,000. In addition, officers removed 12 packages of meth weighing nearly 17 pounds and valued in excess of $262,000,” the release said.
The drugs and vehicle were processed for seizure. Flores was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, the release said.
