Wrongful Death Kroger Employee Killed, Reward Offered

The St. Matthews Police Department has formed a task force to investigate the murder of a Kroger employee on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 10 p.m.

Jack Combs, 34, was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Hubbards Lane store while he was leaving work. Police say they do not believe this was a random killing and that Combs was targeted, possible by more than one person.

“We believe that if he were targeted and this was specific to him that they probably knew when he was getting off work,” Det. Dennis McDonald said.

The task force will include detectives, evidence technicians and other personnel to specifically investigate this case. Police say they have obtained a large amount of surveillance video from several areas.

“That is something the detectives are combing through, not minute by minute, but second by second,” McDonald said.

The police also say the reward for any information on this case is now up to $20,000. If you have any information you’re urged to call Saint Matthews Police at 893-9000.
