Authorities are searching for a 28-year-old Cortland man whose empty car was found in a ditch Thursday.
Jacob C. Brummett is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 135 pounds, police said in a news release. He has short brown hair that is thinning on top and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a gold baseball hat, a plaid blue and green shirt, and orange and black sneakers. He may have been wearing a gray jacket.

Brummett was reported missing about 8:30 p.m. Thursday and named a missing and endangered person about 1 a.m. Sheriff’s police, including a sheriff’s police dog, and Illinois State Police with specialized aircraft searched the area where his car was found until 3:30 a.m. Kane County Sheriff’s police also were notified.
Cortland and sheriff’s police began searching again this morning.
The car was found on North Avenue about a half mile from Airport Road, according to the news release. Police said Brummett may have been drinking before his vehicle went into the ditch.
Brummett was last seen Thursday morning, but talked with his roommate on the phone mid-afternoon.
