A Taylor County man shot his girlfriend with a crossbow and then shot himself with a shotgun Tuesday morning.
According to a release from Taylor County Sheriff’s Department, they recieved a call stating that 38-year-old Paul Sprowles shot 39-year-old Karyn Rae Meeks with a crossbow in the torso and was bleeding severely.

A deputy called in route to the residence and was told that Sprowles had armed himself with a shotgun. When the deputy arrived they found Sprowles deceased from a apparent self inflicted gunshow wound.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene by the Taylor County Coroner.
The person who placed the emergency call was Roger Warren, who investigators said is Sprowles uncle.
Officials say the couple had been living together and had been fighting for some time before the situation turned deadly Tuesday.
Investigators are awaiting autopsy results and other forensic work that will corroborate the uncle’s story.
