Police say Gunter, who was 17 at the time, lost control of the car and tried to over-corrected, but hit a tree.

Another 17-year-old passenger was airlifted from the scene with life-threatening injuries. Sunday Moore, 18, and Gunter were taken to UK Hospital for treatment with non-life threatening injuries.

At the time of the accident, police said they did not believe drugs or alcohol appeared to have played a role.
