A Scott County man admitted to causing the death of his long-time friend and roommate in a DUI crash back in 2013.
Frank Lazarin pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and DUI in court Friday in a crash that killed Roger Daniels in January of 2013.
Lazarin accepted a plea deal instead of going to trial as he was scheduled to do later this month.
Police say Lazarin drove off the shoulder of Interstate 75 and into a guardrail, and Daniels – who was in the passenger seat and not wearing a seatbelt – hit the windshield on impact, and later died. Authorities told LEX 18 at the time that Lazarin was intoxicated, and possibly speeding.

Daniels’ family watched in tears as Lazarin accepted the plea deal and said they’re just glad this whole ordeal is finally coming to a close.
Lazarin will serve up to five years behind bars and pay restitution, but he remains out on bond and won’t begin his sentence until the summer, the judge said.
The two men lived together at a Georgetown home at the time.
