Lexington Police announced Friday more than a dozen arrests were made in connection with an overwhelming number of leads involving the distribution and sharing of child pornography.
It has been six weeks since Lexington police formed the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. In that time, investigators say they’ve made 13 arrests, four of them juveniles.

Charges vary from possessing and distributing child pornography to using electronic means to contact minors.
The task force, formed in late January, is made up of officers from all over the Lexington Police Department. Resources were shifted to help tackle what investigators call a very serious problem.
During a news conference Friday afternoon, the task force announced the arrests, also discussing that they’d partnered with state police, even Fayette County public school law enforcement, to put a stop to the illegal acts.
Along with the 13 arrests, more than 50 electronic devices were seized, as well as more than 1,000 images and videos containing child porn.
Police say the investigation isn’t over yet; the next phase involves adding more manpower.
