Identity Theft Grand Jury Indicts Amarillo, TX Man

An Amarillo federal grand jury has indicted an area man on charges alleging he attempted to use other people’s identities to land a job at a Dalhart tire shop.

The grand jury on Friday indicted Victor Medina-Sandoval on four counts — making a false statement in an immigration matter, using a false immigration document and two counts of aggravated identity theft.

Prosecutors allege Sandoval used a false document on Feb. 21 with a fictitious name in an attempt to obtain a job at Heiser Tire Service in Dalhart.

Another count alleges that Sandoval used a fake Social Security number on Nov. 5, 2012, to satisfy a requirement of the federal employment verification system. The third count of the indictment alleges that Sandoval illegally possessed the alien registration number of another person, and the fourth count alleges Sandoval illegally possessed a Social Security number assigned to another person.

Sandoval will remain in custody pending further hearings.
