A woman who police say helped kill a Wolfe County man in 2010 was formally sentenced Thursday.
Despite testimony from the daughter of murder victim Robert Bryant, the judge accepted a plea deal before Rebecca Wright’s case went to trial.
Wright pleaded guilty to murder charges and was sentenced to 24 years in prison. The robbery and tampering with physical evidence charges against her were dropped. She could have faced 40 years in prison had her case gone to trial.

Wright’s ex-boyfriend and the victim’s cousin, Lloyd Bryant, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the robbery and murder.
Lloyd Bryant pleaded guilty to murder and other charges in the violent stabbing death of his 44-year-old cousin in 2010, with whom Lloyd was living with at the time.
Three months after Robert let Lloyd live with him, police say Lloyd and his then-girlfriend, Rebecca Wright, turned on Robert, stabbing him at least 15 times and slitting his throat before stealing his vehicle.
Wright watched Thursday morning in court as her victims’ daughter testified.
Andrea Bryant, at times directing her testimony at Wright, said she believed both suspects deserved capital punishment, especially since, in her eyes, neither showed any remorse.
“I want her to look at me and see that it’s not for show. I’m here because I cared about my dad. And she took a very very big part of our family when she took him,” Andrea said.
The family of the victim says they are disappointed by the outcome.
“Lloyd Junior got 40 years and she got 24? And there are two weapons and they should both have got the same thing, which is what we wanted,” said Carolyn Baker, Robert’s mother, in an interview with LEX 18 in March, when the family found out about the deal.
