A 40-year-old woman, previously reported missing from Aurora, was found dead Saturday in the Betasso Preserve Open Space just west of Boulder, from what officials say appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, a Boulder County Parks and Open Space Ranger reportedly found an abandoned vehicle in the 37800 block of Colo. 119, about three miles of Boulder’s western city limit. The car was registered to a missing person from Aurora.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office coordinated a search in the area, enlisting help from several other agencies. Around 12:20 p.m., the missing woman, whose name has not yet been released by the Boulder County Coroner’s Office, was found dead about 1300 feet from 119, on Betasso’s Canyon Link Trail.
A preliminary investigation indicated a self-inflicted gunshot wound as the cause of death. No foul play is suspected at this time.
