The man accused of raping and strangling a pregnant Russell County jogger in 2012 was sentenced to life without parole.
Christopher Allman – who pleaded guilty to charges of murder, fetal homicide, kidnapping, robbery, evidence tampering, rape and persistent felony offender – was formally sentenced Tuesday morning.
Authorities say Allman dragged 31-year-old Sarah Hart into a ravine the morning of June 14, 2012, while she was out for a jog with her sister, then raped and strangled her.

Officials say Hart had decided to go back to the car when Allman encountered her. Police say he left her for dead and walked to work, where he was later found and arrested.
Hart’s body was found in the ravine later.
After the formal sentencing on Tuesday, Hart’s family said they’re not focusing on Allman; rather the legacy of their daughter.
