Pedophile Tracking Wyoming County, PA Man Faces 18-44 Years

A Wyoming County man faces 18-44 years in state prison after being sentenced Wednesday morning to rape of a child and other sex offenses.

Joshua M. Raymond, 29, of Laceyville, made no comment as he appeared before Wyoming County President Judge Russell Shurtleff, but his attorney, Deborah Albert-Heise, did.

She acknowledged her client had issues that needed to be addressed, and because he had been in jail since September of 2012, “he’s had plenty of time to think about his actions.”

But, she also acknowledged that he had a zero prior record, and asked the court to consider running whatever sentences were imposed on the four charges facing him concurrently.

District attorney Jeff Mitchell objected, noting that Raymond violated the child while her mother was working and trusting that he could provide care.

“His actions are reprehensible; they occurred on separate dates, and I’m asking for consecutive sentences,” Mitchell said.

On the charge of rape, Mr. Raymond was sentenced to 10-20 years in state prison with lifetime registration as a sexual offender under the Adam Walsh act.

For aggravated indecent assault he faces five to 10 years; and for each of two counts of indecent assault, he faces 18months to seven years.

Mr. Raymond had been sentenced a year earlier to 20-40 years in prison on similar charges, but that was withdrawn after Ms. Albert-Heise appealed the matter on a technicality and gave all indications the case would go to trial, until this past February when the alleged victim made it clear she was prepared to take the witness stand.
