A hearing for a pastor accused in a high profile triple murder in Boyle County has been postponed since his attorney was gunned down last month.
Kenneth Allen Keith was scheduled to show up to court Tuesday, but the death of his attorney, Mark Stanziano, has postponed the hearing. Now, the mother of one of the alleged victims is worried how the lawyer’s death could delay the whole process.
“I just wonder how far back it’s gonna push this,” said Barbara Lewis, the mother of Mike Hockensmith.

It’s the first thought that raced through Barbara Lewis’ mind late last month when she learned Mark Stanziano had been murdered in front of his Pulaski County law office. Stanziano was representing Kenneth Keith – the pastor accused of gunning down Lewis’ son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Angela Hockensmith, along with a client, Daniel Smith, last September inside of the couple’s Danville business.
“We were supposed to be in court today and everything was supposed to get started and now it’s not,” Lewis said.
A status hearing planned Tuesday afternoon for pastor Keith was postponed until Aug. 4.
“Until he has an attorney, there’s nothing that can be done. They can’t do anything until he’s got an attorney,” Lewis said.
With many questions about the future of the case, Lewis does want to make it clear her thought’s are with Stanizano’s family. Especially because, she says, they are now tied together in tragedy.
“He didn’t deserve to be gunned down. He really didn’t. His family’s just gonna have a hard time dealing with it just like I’ve had a hard time dealing with it,” Lewis said. “I know they feel like he didn’t deserve it anymore than my son did. I mean I didn’t have to like his lawyer, but I didn’t want this to happen to him either.”
