Identity Theft NY Woman Charged in Wake County, NC

With help from Knightdale police, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 63-year-old New York woman on two charges of financial card theft and identity theft Friday afternoon.

Francesca Huckaby took a total of $3,200 using a Wells Fargo debit card belonging to the victim, according to an arrest warrant. It is not clear from arrest warrants whether the victim lives in North Carolina, although Huckaby used the stolen card and money in Wake County.

Using the debit card is also considered identity theft, and Huckaby faces that charge for the same activity that took place over six months.

Knightdale Detective Orlando Soto said Huckaby used the card at the Wells Fargo in Knightdale but was already in custody because of similar charges filed by Raleigh Police.

Huckaby has faced similar charges in other states.

In 2004, New York City police charged Huckaby with possession of stolen property, which included a credit card. That same year in New York, she was charged with assuming another person’s identity and attempting to commit a felony. She served a 9-month sentence on both charges.

In 2001, she was charged with credit card theft and fraud in Seacaus, N.J. Those charges were dismissed.

She also was convicted on firearms charges from Detroit police from the late 1980s.

Huckaby is being held at the Wake County Detention Center, with bail set at $10,000 until a court appearance Monday morning.
