Investigators arrived at the scene Sunday after neighbors smelled a foul odor coming from the garage and alley. One source told CBS 2, the victim’s body had been dismembered and wrapped in plastic.

Police believe, but cannot confirm just yet, that the body found is 41-year-old Milan Lekich who was last seen in March 2013. On Thursday, Chicago police issued a missing person report for Lekich, whose last known address was on the same block where the body was found.

However, authorities can confirm that the garage where the body was found was owned by Lekich. Additionally, Fowler police have confirmed that Lekich was married, at one time, to 49-year-old Teresa Jarding who passed away last week in Fowler.

Investigators believe this case is related to the disappearance of Teresa’s mother, Nena Metoyer, who is still missing. Metoyer, whose home is in Tampa, Florida, was visiting Jarding in Fowler at the time of Jarding’s death. Metoyer was not at the home when police arrived Sept. 24, but her vehicle and belongings were still in the residence.
