Three people were sent to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash, including a police chief and city worker.
It happened on the Cumberland Parkway just four miles inside Pulaski County just after 10:00 a.m.
Officials said an SUV driven by police chief, 58-year-old Ottis Skaggs of Russell Springs, was westbound on the Cumberland Parkway when the vehicle hydroplaned on the wet roads and crossed the median into the eastbound lanes. The vehicle then struck an eastbound car driven by 29-year -ld Ryan Covington of Liberty.

Covington’s vehicle was thrown into the guardrail and he was then trapped inside. He was extricated from the wreckage by the Somerset-Pulaski County Rescue Squad and the Nancy Volunteer Fire Department.
Chief Skaggs and his passenger, 48-year-old Derek K Polston of Russell Springs, a city worker – were both ejected from the vehicle.
None of the three was wearing a seat belt, officails said.
Shief Skaggs was treated at the scene by the Russell County EMS and transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was later transferred by EMS to UK Hospital in Lexington.
Polston was treated at the scene by the Russell County EMS and transported to the Russell County Hospital.
Covington was treated at the scene by the Somerset-Pulaski County EMS and transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
