A Greene County woman was arrested Tuesday after State Police said she stole the identity of a deployed soldier — her son.
Pearl Smith, 46, of Greenville, was charged with third-degree grand larceny and aggravated identity theft, both felonies.
Smith’s son, an Army soldier serving in Afghanistan, reported to State Police that someone had used his personal information to withdraw money from his bank account, police said.

Investigation revealed that Smith stole more than $27,000 from her son while he was deployed, police said.
She was arraigned in Greenville Town Court and released to return to court in January.
