A Grand Island man faces up to 55 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child.
Noe Flores-Diaz, 30, pleaded no contest last week in Buffalo County District Court to felony attempted first-degree sexual assault of a child between May 23, 2011, and May 19, 2013, and felony third-degree sexual assault of a child on June 9, 2014. In exchange for his pleas, four other counts of felony sexual assault of a child were dismissed by the Buffalo County Attorney’s Office.

Judge Bill Wright accepted Diaz’s pleas and ordered a presentment investigation, including a sex offender evaluation, done by the State Probation office. The report contains background information on a defendant, including his or her family and criminal history, employment, and psychological and chemical dependency, to help the judge issue an appropriate sentence.
Sentencing will be in February.
