A Lexington man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to engage in sexual activity with an underage girl. On Wednesday, the Attorney General’s Cybercrimes Unit arrested 48-year-old Sherwin D. Collins, who is also known as “Rick”.
Collins’ arrest is the result of a two-week undercover investigation by Kentucky’s Cybercrimes Unit. According to investigators, Collins exchanged emails and text messages with a person he met on Craigslist who he believed to be the mother of an 11-year-old girl. Investigators allege that Collins traveled to Frankfort after making arrangements with the mother to meet her and her daughter for the purposes of engaging in sexual contact with the child.
