Police say Rice ran over 22-year-old Joshua Childers back in December of 2013. Officers say Rice was fighting with his girlfriend when Childers tried to break it up. The two men wrestled, and Rice hit Childers as he drove away from the scene. Childers later died at UK Hospital.

Rice was originally indicted on a murder charge.
