Wrongful Death Two Arrested After Missing Louisville Woman Found Dead

Two people are facing charges of murder and kidnapping after a missing 19-year-old woman was found dead, our sister station WAVE 3 News reports.

45-year-old Todd Byrd and 22-year old Monica Mudd were both booked into Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on Tuesday after the body of Meagan Hassler was found in Bullitt County. Police say Hassler was shot and her body dumped into a ravine.

Hassler’s father reported her missing on June 20. He told WAVE 3 News Meagan Hassler had a young son who she adored.

“She was a good person, you know,” her father said. “She had some bad things going on. She was a good person, she was a very good person. She didn’t deserve what happened to her.”

Hassler’s photo went viral on social media as people shared it with the hope she was still alive.

Jack Hassler said he is still hoping anyone who saw anything concerning his daughter’s death will come forward with more information to obtain a conviction.

Byrd and Mudd are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday, June 24.
