Missing Person 10 Year Old Jaia Aginsky of Nevada City, CA

The Nevada City Police Department has issued a be-on-the-lookout advisory for a 10-year-old girl who reportedly ran away from her North Pine Street residence Sunday night.

Jaia Aginsky is considered a missing, at-risk juvenile, confirmed Police Chief Tim Foley.

“We have been out searching for her,” he said. “We have notified the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and fliers are being posted.”

Jaia had been at World Fest earlier Sunday night, but had gone home and went to bed around 8:30 p.m. Her father followed suit around 9:30 p.m., and found her missing when he went to check on her Monday morning.

Jaia took money and possibly some clothing with her, and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a navy blue swim jacket and carrying a grey backpack with purple accents.

She has brown hair and brown eyes, is 4-foot-3 and weighs about 70 pounds.

Jaia does not have a cellphone and does not use a computer, which will make it more difficult to track her, Foley sad.

“She is entranced with San Francisco so she might be heading there,” he said.

Family friend Lorraine Gervais said Jaia’s parents are in an international custody battle, which she believes sparked the girl’s disappearance.

Gervais said there was a possible sighting of Jaia at about 1 a.m. on South Auburn Street in Grass Valley, when a bus driver reported he saw a girl resembling her running down the street. Grass Valley police officers responded but did not locate anyone, Gervais said.

“She’s very bright, very sociable, very charming, very lovable,” she said, adding that she hoped the publicity would help find Jaia.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or the Nevada City Police Department at 530-265-4700.

Jaia Aginsky, 10, has been reported missing from Nevada City.
