Wrongful Death Woman Arrested in Franklin County Man’s Death

Neighbors are shedding new light on the murder of a Franklin County man and a woman’s arrest in the case.

Police say Thomas Ellison was stabbed to death at his home on Deepwood Drive Friday. Across town at a home on Redbud Lane, neighbors say they saw the 66-year-old picking up a woman in his car the night before he was murdered. Neighbors say that woman is Meisha Nichols, the same woman police arrested Sunday morning charged with murdering him.

“It’s crazy. I mean you see a little bit of everything, but a murder,” said neighbor Tammy Ricketts.

Police say Nichols is an acquaintance of the man she is accused of murdering. Her next door neighbors knew Ellison.

“He’s like an old friend. He used to joke around with us all the time,” said neighbor John Clark.

But neighbors say they did not know about his connection to the 28-year-old suspect.

“That’s why it surprised me that she did that, because I’ve never seen him in the projects,” said Clark.

But neighbors say many men have been seen at Meisha Nichols’ home.

“First time I ever met her, she came and sat on my porch.and she was down there trying to pick up guys,” said Ricketts.

Ellison’s neighbors say he had a lot of money.

“I know that he helped a lot of people out here. He would loan them money. He would take them to the store,” said neighbor Frances Ringer.

Police say this is still very much an open and active investigation. They have not ruled out the possibility that there may be more suspects in this murder. Officers first arrested Meisha Nichols for tampering with evidence, but during their interview with her Sunday morning, they say she gave them enough information to charge her with the murder.
