A man whose body was found in a deep freezer in his own home last month died from a gunshot wound.
An autopsy showed Michael Dwayne Graham, 40, was shot in the back of the head, the Associated Press reported. The Butler County man had been missing for 12 days before lawmen found his body during a search warrant of his home on July 24.
Graham was last seen alive July 12. His family filed a missing person’s report when notified by his employers that he had not shown up for work.

Sheriff Kenny Harden said investigators initially went to the home on Highway 10 with family members and did a cursory search. He said they returned with a search warrant July 24 and discovered the deep-freezer under a pile of clothing. That is when they found Graham’s body inside.
The body, and the freezer, were taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for additional examination and autopsy.
Graham’s car was recovered in the Atlanta area, and the person who had been driving it was tracked to North Carolina, according to the AP. The driver is a person of interest in his death but has not been charged. The person is being held on domestic abuse charges in North Carolina.
