State police took over the investigation from Easton police on Wednesday, at the request of the Bridgeport States Attorney’s Office.

According to NBC Connecticut, state police spent Wednesday evening searching the Bridgeport home of Kyle Navin, the couple’s son. Sources told NBC that Kyle Navin had been named a person of interest in the investigation.

Jeffrey Navin was reportedly $2.2 million in debt, though family members released a statement, saying that the couple’s financial situation had nothing to do with their disappearance.
