Sharp’s body was discovered when officers conducted a welfare check at the home. The day before, police say Napier had led detectives on a 40-mile pursuit on I-75  in a bucket truck she stole from a gas station off the Athens-Boonesboro exit in Fayette County. Napier was charged with second-degree wanton endangerment for allegedly dragging the driver of the bucket truck, driving under the influence, first-degree robbery, fleeing and evading police, operating on a suspended license, first-degree wanton endangerment and criminal mischief.

Upon further investigation, detectives charged Vanessa Napier with murder and tampering with physical evidence in the death of Sharp.

Napier remains in the Fayette County Detention Center.
