The Rowan County Sheriff says a fight between two brothers took a deadly turn. It happened along Cold Springs Hollow Tuesday night.
Deputies investigating the case say Robert Jent told them he didn’t mean to fatally shoot his brother Phillip. Robert told deputies that he got into a fight with Phillip and was trying to shoot his brother in the arm to subdue him. But the bullet hit Phillip in the chest and killed him.

51 year old Phillip Jent was the owner of Jent’s Garage near the shooting scene. Family members say the brothers had been involved in a property dispute for years and this was the end result.
“It’s not self defense when you get in your vehicle, then you go down to somebody else’s home and you take a gun with you knowing what you’re taking that gun with you for,” said Phillip’s niece Georgina Reed.
So far no charges have been filed and deputies say the case will be presented to a grand jury later this month to see if Robert Jent will be charged.
