Missing Person Massive Search For Missing LaRue County First Responder

A massive search effort is underway today for a missing first responder.

It’s been almost a month since Michael Key was last seen in LaRue County. The Sheriff’s Department tells LEX 18 that they haven’t let up searching for the missing firefighter, EMT and first responder.

Crews plan on spending the entire day searching the Rolling Fork River and the area surrounding the river between Howardstown and New Haven.

Key was last seen by a local farmer on Wayne Ennis Road in Howardstown on Dec. 13. Police say the farmer reported seeing Key sitting in a lawn chair, next to his parked vehicle on a gravel bar in the Rolling Fork River.

A few days later, police say they located his vehicle In that spot with several personal items inside, but Key was nowhere to be found.

Hundreds of professionals and volunteers have searched the river and surrounding area with canines, boats, helicopters, vehicles and by foot.

Key is described as a white male, Five-feet-five-inches tall with a medium build, brown hair and green eyes. He weighs approximately 145 pounds.

He also has a tattoo on his chest and left wrist.
