An immediate search of country roadways was conducted, but no sign of Tungate. Investigators say just before 8 a.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of a single vehicle accident on Highway 49 at the intersection with Highway 337. When deputies responded, they found Tungate inside the 2002 Pontiac.
Deputies say the teenager lost control of the car, went off the road and overturned in a small creek. He had been trapped in the car for about 8 hours before behind rescued.
Tungate was taken to Spring View Hospital for treatment of injuries and hypothermia.
