A Bean Station man is accused of befriending an elderly woman so he could steal her identity.
Daniel Coreno, 38, was charged with 18 counts of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card and 3 counts of Identity Theft.
According to the Morristown Police Department, Coreno gained the woman’s trust to get access to her personal information. He opened a credit card in her name and used it at least 18 times for purchases of more than $300. He also made charges on her existing credit accounts.
The woman realized the scheme when she started receiving bills for purchases she hadn’t made.
