A badly decomposed body was found inside of a garbage can near a Lexington business Wednesday afternoon.

The discovery was made at about 1:30 p.m. on Fortune Drive next to Kentucky Uniforms, which makes police uniforms. Officials say a tip led them to the body, which officials say was mummified and badly decomposed to the point they are not sure if the body is that of a man or woman.
Police say the body may have been in the garbage can, which was located near a wooden area, for at least a year.
Police continue to investigate.
