Wrongful Death Man Convicted in Death of Lexington Police Officer Denied Parole

The man convicted in the death of a Lexington Police Officer has been denied parole and cannot try again for two years.

Glenn Doneghy went before the state parole board Monday and Tuesday morning.  Doneghy was convicted of the 2010 death of Officer Bryan Durman. Doneghy ran over Durman with his SUV while he responded to a domestic disturbance.

Brandy Durman, wife of Officer Bryan Durman  took to social media to ask for support in keeping the man behind bars.

“The parole hearing for the individual who murdered Bryan will be held Feb 15th at 10:30 a.m. We would appreciate your prayers during this difficult time. If you are unable to attend the hearing in person, a letter in support of keeping this man behind bars would be appreciated,” writes Durman.

Durman asked the board why she had to continue to beg for her husband’s killer to remain behind bars.

“Where is the justice in releasing Glenn Doneghy from prison? He brutally killed my husband. If  he is released I’m afraid another officer will be killed like Daniel Ellis,” Durman said in an emotional plea.

Doneghy appeared before the parole board for about 45 minutes Tuesday, but he refused to discuss Officer Durman’s death because he is currently appealing his conviction. He also challenged the board’s accuracy about his criminal history.

Durman has also started a petition on change.org to keep Doneghy in jail.

Doneghy has been denied parole once before. Even if he serves out the remainder of his sentence, he has less than 7 years left. He cannot apply for parole for two more years.
