Wrongful Death Daycare Worker Charged in Toddler Death

A woman has been charged in the death of a toddler found deceased in a hot SUV, WAVE 3 News reports.

Jaquelin Thomas, 70, was arrested late Tuesday night, charged with second degree manslaughter in the death of 2-year-old Lavonte Swain.

Swain was found dead in the SUV on April 18 outside Gutermuth Elementary School. The Coroner said the boy died of hyperthermia. Thomas admitted to forgetting about the boy and leaving him in the vehicle.

Swain was in the care of Lil Kings and Queens Learning Academy at the time of his death. Investigators discovered he had been left in the vehicle for four hours.
