A man who is accused of killing a University of Kentucky employee will go on trial starting on Monday.

Mark Taylor was in court for a status hearing Friday morning.

The hearing was to decide if more evidence will be introduced for the upcoming trial.

Evidence against Taylor includes photos of the dead body, items found in Texas at the time of his capture and testimony from his mother.

Taylor is one of two men charged in the murder of Alex Johnson, a UK Chef, in late 2013.

Johnson’s body was found inside a barrel dumped into the Kentucky River.

A second man, Timothy Ballard, took a plea deal and admitted to his role in the murder.
