The southbound lanes of US 127 are blocked due to an injury crash involving a school bus and a car in Frankfort.
The crash happened at Century Plaza. Officials say that 50 Breathitt County 4th and 5th-graders were on the bus, but none of them were injured. They were taken to a nearby church.
Two people have been injured in the crash, one with life-threatening injuries. One of the occupants in the car was airlifted to UK. Another has been transported to a local hospital.

The Franklin County Sheriff says that it appears a car was leaving Green Plaza and the bus was traveling south on 127 when they crashed.
The road was closed in both directions, but a northbound lane has reopened since then.
“It’s a bad to have his happen at any time of the day, but right now it will be a huge impact,” said Sheriff Pat Melton. “We’re asking everyone to avoid the area and you can bypass it, please avoid this area. ”
Cody Mcarter witnessed the crash and ran to the rescue.
“I ran back and grabbed a crowbar and hopped on top of it. Tried to pry the door open so they can get to them and get them secure because we couldn’t stick our hands through the window to stop the bleeding or even to see if they were alright. I panicked for a little bit,” said Mcarter.
Officials estimate that the southbound lanes will be closed for several hours.
