The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office arrested nine people Saturday while investigating a missing persons case.
Officials say they went to a home on Arthur Ridge Road at approximately 7:30 Saturday night after receiving information that Thomas Scott, 50, may be in a home there. Deputies say Scott was a wanted fugitive from Butler County, Ohio, on charges of neglect of a child.
When deputies arrived at the home, eight people inside denied knowing where Scott was. After investigating further, they located the suspect hiding in a back bedroom. Deputies arrested Scott along with all eight people present at the scene.

Charles Scott, 53, of Danville, was arrested on charges of hindering prosecution or apprehension second degree, public intoxication controlled substances and disorderly conduct second degree. Also arrested were Anthony Scott, 47, of Fort Myers, Florida; Billie Coffey, 42, of Richmond; Debra Scott, 52, of East Bernstadt; Zachary King, 21, of Mount Sterling; Wilma Miller, 51, or Fairfield, Ohio; James Clark, 23, of Richmond and Rebecca Roach, 35, of Danville. All are charged with hindering prosecution or apprehension second degree and public intoxication – controlled substances. Roach also faces charges of promoting contraband second degree and disorderly conduct second degree. Officials say during her search inside the detention center, staff found a small bag of suspected marijuana in her possession.
All nine suspects were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
