A St. Paul woman has pleaded guilty to using stolen identities to file fraudulent income tax returns.
Twenty-eight-year-old Ebony Shante Yarbrough pleaded guilty Friday to aggravated identity theft.
According to court documents, the scheme happened between 2013 and 2015. Prosecutors say Yarbrough convinced friends and family members to let her file their state and federal income tax returns, saying she knew how to do it and wouldn’t charge as much as a CPA.

Prosecutors say Yarbrough prepared the returns by claiming false income and including dependents by using the stolen IDs of other minors.
Prosecutors say the scheme accounted for more than $500,000 in false claims.
